IDC Architects Present on Mega Data Center Conversion Trend at Major Data Center Industry Conferenc

The IDC Architects presentation titled "Current Success Model for Conversion of Outdated Manufacturing Facilities Into Mega Data Centers" revealed details about a project regarded as a model of a growing trend toward conversion of former manufacturing facilities into data centers. The presentation was made at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona.
The presenters combined seasoned data center design experts from IDC Architects and the owner's perspective of industry expert Simon Tusha, developer of the groundbreaking Eugene Technology Center and a key contributor to previous data center technology "breakthrough moments" in his roles as the former Chief Technology Officer for Quality Technology Services (QTS), Strategic Negotiator of Development for Google and data center projects involving such prominent firms as JPMorgan Chase, HSBC and Deutsche Bank.
Mr. Tusha presented details on his current Eugene Technology Center project, the conversion of a former Hynix semiconductor manufacturing in Eugene, Oregon into a mega multitenant data center of nearly 1 million square feet.

Subjects covered included due diligence analysis, environmental site assessment, permitting, regulatory assessment and approaches that data center owners can use to create strategic repurposing plans to direct their own successful conversion processes.
The IDC Architects presenters drew from their experience in designing a number of conversions of former advanced technology manufacturing facilities into latest-generation data centers. These range from expansions of under 100,000 square feet to large-scale conversions such as a current IDC Architects repurposing of a multi-building, 1+ million-square-foot manufacturing campus into a mega data center.
The presentation explored the "sustainable repurposing" trend growing in popularity among science and technology building owners seeking to refurbish aging buildings with lower cost and environmental impact that building new structures would entail.
