Austin Energy Selects Telvent to Provide State-of-the-Art Smart Grid Solutions

Nov 28, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that Austin Energy is implementing the latest release of its advanced distribution management system (ADMS) to modernize its existing distribution grid and improve its overall system performance, availability and security.

Using Telvent smart grid solutions, Austin Energy, the eighth largest community-owned electric utility in the U.S., will be able to better meet the business and support needs of its distribution system operations. With the capability to process and model an increasing amount of real-time data, as well as forecast near-term energy demand in the presence of distributed energy resources, the ADMS allows the utility to more efficiently operate the grid and support the deployment of renewable energy throughout the distribution network.

As the only full-featured ADMS (combining DMS, OMS, and SCADA) on the market, a competitive benchmark evaluation showed Telvent's solution was the best suited to meet the utility's current and future system requirements, including regulatory, performance and reporting standards.

According to Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, "We are pleased to begin our relationship with Austin Energy and look forward to helping the utility continue the development of its smart grid distribution system. Our industry-leading solutions will continue to help utilities respond to the increasing consumer demand for energy and ensure that our technology will continue to guide the modern smart grid market." ________________________________________ About Telvent Telvent is a global IT solutions and business information services provider dedicated to helping improve efficiency, safety and security for the world's leading companies. WebRTC Security Concerns

This whitepaper covers two of the most relevant topics in communications industry today: WebRTC and security. We will introduce the problem of security in WebRTC including those traditional VoIP attacks that are going to be present in WebRTC services. Robust Enterprise Grade WebRTC Systems and Services

The emerging WebRTC standard has become one of the industry's hottest topics – and with good reason. Being able to "communications enable the web" has Communications Service Providers as well as Enterprises busily making plans for deployment. But, as these plans unfold, reality is starting to intrude on those plans. Our expectations of telephony services are much higher than web browsing. We expect the phone to connect instantly, operate with minimal disruption, and work seamless across any network, anywhere, at any time. There is also an understanding that phone service is inherently secure. With WebRTC, the expectation is for these applications to behave in the same manner.

This session looks at the user experience and expectations of a WebRTC Enterprise service. It will also cover how a WebRTC enterprise handles security, reliability, and interoperability within browsers and networks.

ORACLE COMMUNICATIONS WEBRTC SESSION CONTROLLER SOLUTION

Communication Service Provider (CSP) voice service revenues continue to face pressure due to shifts in communication preferences and competition from non-traditional service providers. Voice communications are now often embedded into applications outside the domain of traditional telephony voice usage. CSPs have been challenged to effectively leverage and monetize new web-oriented communications technologies.
