New Ixia Solution Provides Unprecedented Visibility Into Rapidly Growing 4G LTE Networks; GTP Session Controller is the world's first solution to deliver exceptional visibility and control to manage explosive mobile data growth

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS -- BARCELONA, SPAIN -- Demonstrating continued market innovation, Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA) introduced a breakthrough category of products that deliver a highly scalable network visibility solution to help mobile carriers better understand their rapidly growing 4G LTE networks. The Ixia Anue GTP Session Controller enables mobile carriers to gain better insight and control over individual user sessions in order to increase customers' quality of experience.

Decades after the creation of mobile phones, today's mobile networks are constrained by unmitigated complexity due the encapsulation of each individual user's mobile sessions -- including voice, data and video. Additionally, with mobile data growth and the fact that a session often moves through multiple towers before completion, mobile carriers have not had a way to truly visualise and control individual sessions. Ixia understood this roadblock to success and created the Anue GSC to provide unprecedented network visibility for mobile carriers -- ultimately providing a better quality of experience for customers.

News Highlights: Ixia Anue GSC enables unprecedented visibility and control With the current rates of data growth and the ever-increasing mobility of users, mobile carriers require drastically increased visibility into their networks as well as a way to view and piece together data coming from multiple towers. With the Anue GSC, Ixia unlocks scalability of and visibility into 4G LTE networks by providing: GTP-session awareness -- Offloads GTP session correlation from monitoring tools while keeping GTP sessions together across multiple probes. The Anue GSC understands GTP protocol and can deliver all packets from a single subscriber to a single tool as well as send GTP-session and non-GTP, non-session traffic to different pools of probes.

A scalable load balancing solution -- Offers a flexible load-balancing solution with room for future growth. It distributes millions of subscriber sessions to tools in a 32-port configuration, doubling the number of ports for twice the performance in a 2RU chassis.

Carrier-grade robustness -- Delivers uninterrupted control in demanding telecommunication environments and is NEBS Level 1 certified, including high-availability features such as redundant management ports, power supplies and fan trays.

Commentary: "Mobile operators need actionable information for each session associated with each subscriber, but a major issue for current network monitoring tools is that correlating sessions from 4G LTE networks in real time is very difficult and resource-intensive," said Iain Gillott, founder and president of iGR. "With a solution in place like the Ixia Anue GSC, the session correlation is offloaded from the network monitoring tools, which frees them up to focus on network monitoring tasks and scaling the network as traffic continues to grow. The network managers are therefore able to deliver the information needed to the operator's business management tools, cost-effectively and efficiently." "Today's mobile users expect a stellar quality of experience, and to compete effectively, mobile carriers require better visibility into and control over their networks," said Alex Pepe, senior vice president and general manager for Ixia Network Visibility Solutions. "We understand these challenges and designed a solution to resolve them by giving mobile carriers the information they need to ensure quality of experience and service for their customers." WebRTC Security Concerns

This whitepaper covers two of the most relevant topics in communications industry today: WebRTC and security. We will introduce the problem of security in WebRTC including those traditional VoIP attacks that are going to be present in WebRTC services. Later we will mention ad-hoc WebRTC attacks and protection mechanisms, to close with an overview of identity management solutions.

Migrating Real Time Communications Services to the Web

In the Internet age, businesses that own fixed and mobile communication networks, including traditional Communications Service Providers (CSPs) of all kinds, are being challenged with some tough questions: How do we stay relevant to our customers?

Delivering Enterprise-Class Communications with WebRTC

WebRTC is an emerging industry standard for enabling Web browsers with real-time communications capabilities. It enables enterprises to enhance Web sites, empower BYOD users, and improve video collaboration and on-line meetings, to name but a few examples.

WebRTC Report Extract Reprint

This document examines the growing important of WebRTC, both generally and for telecom service providers. It considers the expanding range of use-cases, the multiple layers of interoperability likely to be desired by telcos, and some implications in terms of network integration and mobility.

Robust Enterprise Grade WebRTC Systems and Services

The emerging WebRTC standard has become one of the industry's hottest topics – and with good reason. Being able to "communications enable the web" has Communications Service Providers as well as Enterprises busily making plans for deployment. But, as these plans unfold, reality is starting to intrude on those plans. Our expectations of telephony services are much higher than web browsing. We expect the phone to connect instantly, operate with minimal disruption, and work seamless across any network, anywhere, at any time. There is also an understanding that phone service is inherently secure. With WebRTC, the expectation is for these applications to behave in the same manner.

This session looks at the user experience and expectations of a WebRTC Enterprise service. It will also cover how a WebRTC enterprise handles security, reliability, and interoperability within browsers and networks.

ORACLE COMMUNICATIONS WEBRTC SESSION CONTROLLER SOLUTION

Communication Service Provider (CSP) voice service revenues continue to face pressure due to shifts in communication preferences and competition from non-traditional service providers. Voice communications are now often embedded into applications outside the domain of traditional telephony voice usage. CSPs have been challenged to effectively leverage and monetize new web-oriented communications technologies.
